The MSK division is a high volume division performing and interpreting MSK exams including radiography, MSK sonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging for The Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, the two affiliated teaching hospitals of the Brown University Health system. We interpret a large volume of inpatient cross-sectional exams giving residents the exposure to infection, diabetes related complications, and arthritides. Outpatient imaging is supplemented with MR exams from Rhode Island Medical Imaging which allows residents to become very comfortable with interpreting sport-related injuries and common age-related disorders.  We are fortunate to have included in our imaging network division I athletes from Brown University, Bryant University, University of Rhode Island, and Providence College as well as minor professional athletes from the Providence Bruins.

The type, variety and plethora of cases residents are exposed to allows for a fellowship type MSK experience. We encourage residents beginning in their first year to interpret all types of exams including CT and MRI. The MSK division performs image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for which residents are actively encouraged to perform. 

The MSK section consists of fellowship trained MSK radiologists, who have received multiple teaching awards, and are committed to the pillars of our residency program which include excellence in clinical practice, research and education. 

Our radiology residents are fortunate to have continuous opportunity for learning through our one on one read outs, daily informal case presentations, formal case conferences, formal didactic conferences, and multidisciplinary tumor conference.
