Breast Imaging

We have over 10 fellowship-trained breast imagers dedicated to improving patient care through education and research.

The Breast Imaging section at Brown provides state-of-the-art primary and tertiary breast imaging care to the people of Rhode Island and Southeastern New England. At our clinical sites at Rhode Island Hospital and Women and Infants Hospital, we see a diverse patient population and perform and interpret the full spectrum of breast imaging examinations and procedures, including digital breast tomosynthesis, tomosynthesis-guided prone and upright biopsy, breast ultrasound and intervention, including breast biopsy and cryoablation, as well as breast MRI (1.5T and 3T) and MR-guided biopsy. Our radiologists are an integral component of the multi-disciplinary team of clinicians that cares for patients at our breast cancer centers, and we are supported by highly skilled technologists and nurse navigators.

We have over 10 fellowship-trained breast imagers dedicated to improving patient care through education and research. We enjoy educating the next generation of radiologists and provide a welcoming team environment that allows our trainees to have ample opportunity for complete immersion in to the practice of breast imaging and intervention. Our section prides itself on medical education, and our faculty are active leaders in the education of medical students, residents and fellows. Our faculty also includes nationally recognized leaders in the field who publish their work in peer-reviewed journals, are frequently invited to give presentations at society meetings, and have national committee and editorial leadership positions. Some of our scholarly interests include digital breast tomosynthesis, cryoablation, artificial intelligence, high risk screening, and radiology education.
