Matthew E. Pouw, MD

Biography

Medical School: The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University

Dr. Pouw was born in Olympia, Washington. To earn his Bachelor’s Degree, he attended the University of Washington, where he majored in Microbiology and was part of the Honors Program. Dr. Pouw was an attendee of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University where he received his Medical Degree and was awarded the Alpert Medical School Dean’s Scholarship. He stayed in New England for his transitional year, which he spent at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts.

“I’m very glad to return to Brown for residency knowing that I will be learning both diagnostic and interventional radiology at a premier center for training host to some truly outstanding people. Having been a Brown medical student, I was lucky enough to already have experienced some of the warmth, mentorship, and support characteristic of the program from both faculty and resident mentors. Moreover, the clinical excellence I witnessed in terms of both diagnostic and procedural care were the reasons why I was so attracted to this field in the first place. These feelings have only been reinforced after having started here and I’m confident I will have a strong foundation for life and practice after residency.”

“I grew up in Olympia, WA, did undergrad at the University of Washington, shortly worked in an ED in south Seattle, and then found my way to Providence, RI where I completed medical school here at Brown. I spent my internship year at Newton-Wellesley Hospital outside of Boston, MA and came back to Brown for residency. Outside of the hospital, I get excited about travel, woodworking, ramen restaurants, painting, and Seahawks football.”
