Dr. Cronan graduated from Albany Medical College, completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Yale New Haven Medical Center, and was the inaugural fellow for the two-year abdominal imaging fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. With over 150 publications, Dr. Cronan is a nationally recognized expert in uroradiology, ultrasound and non-vascular interventions. His 1987 publication “Deep Venous Thrombosis Ultrasound Assessment Using Vein Compression” was designated one of the 180 papers in the 100-year history of Radiology to advance the field of radiology and patient care. Dr. Cronan has served as President of the Society of Uroradiology (now SAR) and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound. In 2009, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Albany Medical College. Dr. Cronan serves on many national committees and editorial boards, and is a Fellow in the American College of Radiology. He is Radiologist-in-Chief of Rhode Island Hospital & The Miriam Hospital and is Chair of Diagnostic Imaging at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
