Nicholas P. Fordham, MD

Biography

Dr. Fordham is originally from Glasgow, Scotland (No Scotland No Party!) and spent his early childhood in England before moving to the states, initially settling in New Jersey. After a decade in the tristate area, he swapped his Rita’s and Wawa Hoagies for Dunkin and Lobstah rolls with a move up to Massachusetts. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Commonwealth Honors College and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He then pursued and published research on a CRISPR/Cas9 gene therapy for ALS before matriculating at Boston University School of Medicine for medical school.

Throughout his medical training his interest and passion for Interventional Radiology flourished, conducting and publishing research in MRI-guided oncologic interventions at the Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating Suite (AMIGO) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He remained in Boston for his intern year before joining Brown as one of our Integrated Interventional Radiology residents!

Outside of the hospital Dr. Fordham loves to play soccer, hike, ski, and is also an avid runner, recently completing the Boston and Big Sur Marathons as well as the Western Massachusetts Ironman 70.3 triathlon. He also loves to travel as part of his never ending pursuit to find new historical/geographic fun facts to pester his family and colleagues with. When looking for an evening in, Dr. Fordham also enjoys a riveting bar trivia night, a Broadway show, or watching the continued disappointing performances of his varying sports fandoms. In addition to the potential changes in fortunes of his sports teams, he also looks forward to experiencing Providence’s local food and arts scenes and exploring the natural beauty of Rhode Island and greater New England.
