
Akya Myrie, MD
Biography
Dr. Myrie was born in Brooklyn and raised in the richness of Jamaican culture—two influences that continue to shape her personally and professionally. She earned her Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Stony Brook University, followed by her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. During medical school, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society and received the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. She is also a four-time recipient of the Diversity in Medicine Scholarship from the Associated Medical Schools of New York (AMSNY).
Dr. Myrie completed her intern year at the Cleveland Clinic, where she further cultivated her clinical interests and passion for service. Her commitment to community health is reflected in her work as a Medical Compliance Officer and Disaster Action Team Lead with the American Red Cross.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Myrie enjoys discovering new restaurants, spending time on the water—whether snorkeling, snuba diving, yachting, or swimming—and indulging her love of interior design. She believes in creating spaces, both physical and interpersonal, that feel welcoming and restorative. Dr. Myrie is thrilled to be part of this next chapter in residency and looks forward to contributing meaningfully to both her team and her patients.
